A Message From The CEO Of The Futon Shop

A Message From The CEO: A Personal Thank You And Highlight Into Future Projects

Dear clients, friends and partners,

Today marks over 39 years of business at The Futon Shop and I can say with confidence that The Futon Shop’s team is making healthier mattresses thanks to better regulated chemical laws, vendors who farm and produce healthier organic and non- toxic ingredients to buy from, and consumer’s knowledge and questions that help motivate manufacturers and congress to create chemical free furniture. The world is a much different place than when I started this company. In 1976, the year I started The Futon Shop, The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), a United States Law was passed by United States Congress created by The United States Environmental Protection Agency. This law was originally created to regulate existing and new chemicals. There was a trend and motivation from consumers to protect our communities and families. I was just starting my own family and my desire to protect and prevent dangers from my babies became my passion at home and in my company. My desire to contribute health to my community, family, and to the environment shows in the mattresses and products I research a develop everyday at my San Francisco Factory.

Almost 40 years later, a few key laws in the United States Congress are being looked at and acts being looked at to help consumers live more organically. For example, In March of 2015, Senator Tom Udall helped sponsor Senate bill 697. to reauthorize TSCA, called “Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety For the 21st. Century Act. There have been drastic studies revealing  toxins are still seeping through in our homes and new laws this year have helped protect our families from such toxins that were once looked over and sold over the years. The Toxic Substance Control Act is again in the forefront of The Futon Shop mission to help consumers live chemical free. And in June of 2015, the House passed H.R2576, the TSCA Modernization Act of 2015.

I personally want to thank all of our customers that contributed to shopping our chemically free mattress, chemical free baby crib mattress line, and chemically free platform bed line. You represent The Futon Shop’s community of families that fight against dangerous flame retardants and petrochemicals. Almost 40 years ago The United States started recognizing the dangers of chemicals in our homes, and now in 2015 together we are decreasing our consumption of petroleum based chemicals, pesticides, fire retardants, and plastics which contain Cancer causing properties.
Thank you for your continued confidence in The Futon Shop and for valuing and belief in your purchase of chemical free futons and mattresses. On behalf of the entire company, I can tell you that we are motivated and inspired to continue to manufacture and deliver toxic free furniture. Delivering safe, clean and organic carefully crafted sofas, cribs mattresses, futons and sleeping mattresses for children and adults that exceed your expectations is our top priority.

Over the years, I have remained dedicated to developing products that support and strengthen The Futon Shop’s customers health. The Futon Shop has also remained a manufacturer that makes superior comfort and quality to each and every hand-made organic futon mattress made in San Francisco. I am excited for The Futon Shop’s future plan to work hand in hand with Boarding For Breast Cancer (B4BC), an organization that shares my same hope that knowledge and healthy choices is the key to living chemically free.

I also want to thank you for your participation in supporting the health of yourself and your families by purchasing for almost 40 years sofas and mattresses made with natural ingredients that are chemical free, organic and non-toxic. You have my commitment that we will work hard to excel and keep making healthy and safe furniture.

If there is anything that I can do to improve our service to you, I will listen. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Suzanne Diamond (CEO The Futon Shop and TheFutonShop.com)
