Put that Cigarette Out!

Join The Futon Shop Today and put out that cigarette!
May 31, 2011 is World No Tobacco Day!

The Futon Shop's mission is to every day make a difference in the environment, our earth’s soil, water, air and for countless living things. Simply by going organic when you purchase a new organic futon couch, organic futon mattress, and sofa bed and in what you wear, sleep on, wash and dry with, and what you consume can lead to helping replenish our planet and safeguard its future abundance. Until about 50 years ago, cotton-growing mainly involved sustainable techniques: it did not permanently deplete resources or create a health hazard. Today, however, the pesticides used on 'conventional' cotton increasingly threaten people, wildlife and the environment. Most pesticides were originally developed as toxic nerve agents during WWII and it is no wonder they have been linked to many forms of cancers.

With Today being No tobacco Day, lets encourage our friends and family who smoke, to not put toxic agents in their bodies today!

Tobacco's toll on human life

  • The tobacco epidemic kills nearly 6 million people each year, of whom:
    • more than 5 million are users and ex users
    • more than 600 000 are nonsmokers exposed to second-hand smoke

  • After high blood pressure, tobacco use is the biggest contributor to the epidemic of noncommunicable diseases — such as heart attack, stroke, cancer and emphysema — which accounts for 63% of deaths
  • Smokers are more susceptible to certain communicable diseases, such as tuberculosis and pneumonia
  • No consumer product kills as many people and as needlessly as does tobacco. It killed 100 million people in the 20th century. Unless we act, it could kill up to 1 billion people in the 21st. All of these deaths will have been entirely preventable

  1. I'm glad I kicked the habbit. I have so much more energy and feel a lot healthier!!!

  2. I glad I kicked the habit. I feel so much more healthier and have so much more energy. I also convince Joe to quit too and now he hasn't been smoking for several weeks now.

  3. We need to stop the habit now because the effects of smoking in our health are serious and deadly. Those chain smokers have higher risks of heart attack and lung cancer.de

  4. It took me a long time to quit, but I'm glad I finally did. I don't know if I necessarily feel I have more energy, but I definitely don't get sick as often or run out of breath as quickly!
